Bob Mayers to talk at Historic Society of Highlands

Bob will talk about “Lost Opportunities on the Highway to Hell- Monmouth Courthouse to Sandy Hook, June 1778 and the Soldiers of Washington’s Army – June 1778.”

After of the Battle of Monmouth the entire British Army left their wounded behind and retreated 20 miles from Freehold through several Monmouth County towns, to be evacuated from Sandy Hook. Why was their plodding, vulnerable, miles long wagon train allowed to pass without major disruption by Patriot forces? Bob will also describe the common soldiers of the American Army during the Revolutionary War as depicted in his new book Searching For Yankee Doodle.
